Super Cheap Auto Group is a corporate supporter of the following charities:
Children's Hospital Foundations Australia
Children's Hospital Foundations Australia ("CHFA") is a national partnership of uniquely child-focused Foundations supporting leading paediatric hospitals.
CHFA's vision is to end the suffering of sick children. Its mission is to support initiatives that generate breakthrough treatments and cures to make a difference in the lives of sick and terminally ill children. Each of the member Hospitals drive dynamic medical research programs that aim to find new treatments and cures for childhood disease.
Super Cheap Auto Group supports CHFA in various ways:
- Team Members in Australia have the opportunity to participate in workplace giving - making pre-tax donations from their weekly pay.
- Income derived from the Company from other activities such as industry survey participation or speaking engagements is donated to the Foundation.
- Each Christmas, an internal raffle of accumulated gifts from suppliers is held at the Lawnton Support Office. There are over 250 Team Members at Support Office and this initiative is well supported by all. The funds raised are donated directly to the Foundation.
Heart Children - New Zealand
In 2009, Super Cheap Auto Group joined with Heart Children New
Zealand to help support children with heart conditions and their
families within New Zealand.
Each week, 12 babies are born with a heart defect (that's 1 in
every 100 children born with a heart defect). Heart disease is the
leading cause of death in young children. Heart Children New
Zealand provides emotional support, practical support, specialised
equipment, education, information, advocacy, friendship and
fun.
Supercheap Auto stores located in New Zealand accept donations for
Heart Children during the months of May and November.
Sids and Kids - Red Nose Day
SIDS and Kids is an international leader in the field of health promotion, dedicated to the elimination of sudden and unexpected infant death.
Red Nose Day is an annual event which Super Cheap Auto Group supports in all its Australian stores and at its Support Office location. Official Red Nose merchandise is sold in stores and Support Office for the entire month of June.
CanTeen - Bandanna Day
CanTeen is the Australian Organisation for Young People Living with Cancer and is the national support organisation for young people (aged 12-24) living with cancer.
CanTeen provides Members with a place where they can simply be young people, away from the daily pressures of living with cancer in the hospital or at home.
CanTeen's Bandanna Day is an annual event which Super Cheap Auto Group supports in all its Australian stores and at its Support Office location. Official Bandanna merchandise is sold in stores and Support Office for the entire month of October.
Cerebral Palsy League of Queensland
Cerebral Palsy League of Queensland ("CPLQ") is the largest non-government disability services provider for people with a physical disability in Queensland. It currently assists more than 3000 people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities, and is supported through fundraising activities, support from the community, the corporate sector and State and Federal Governments.
CPLQ's mission is to provide quality services and supports which will enable and empower people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities to create and access opportunities to lead valued lives as respected and equal members of society within their family and community.
Since 2004, Super Cheap Auto Group has sponsored its own corporate band, The Superlatives, with great success in Brisbane's only rock charity event, the annual Conrad Treasury Boardroom Blitz. The Boardroom Blitz is CPLQ's flagship fundraising event with approximately 10 corporate bands performing to compete for top award honours and help raise much needed funds for CPLQ.
Monopoly
We are very proud of our partnership with one of Australia's leading children's cancer charities, the McGuinness McDermott Foundation, for whom we have raised over $3.5 million through the sale of Charity editions of the world's most popular board game, Monopoly.
Supercheap Auto retails and distributes the unique editions of Monopoly. More than 35,000 games have been sold since February 2006 with proceeds being distributed to the following children's charities:
- Wesley Research Institute (QLD)
- Royal Children's Hospital Foundation (QLD)
- Women's and Children's Hospital (SA)
- Telethon (WA)
- Children's Cancer Institute (NSW)
- Peter Mac Cancer Foundation (VIC)
- Royal Children's Hospital (TAS).
- Kid's Can (NZ).
Tony McGuiness, director of the foundation recently recognised the role Supercheap Auto has played in assisting MMF.
"We are indebted to the management and staff of Supercheap Auto for their enthusiastic and generous support of these games throughout Australia and New Zealand. They can all share in the knowledge that seriously ill children are receiving better care through their philanthropic support".
This year Supercheap Auto will again be "on board" with a further two games planned for launch.
Supercheap Auto Safe Driving
The Supercheap Auto - Driving Home Road Safety campaign is a
landmark, 100% not-for-profit, road safety campaign aimed at
improving motorists' driving habits and doing our bit to help
reduce the country's road toll.
The campaign is structured in three ways:
- A series of 6 community service television commercials produced and aired in partnership with the Seven Network, starring V8 Supercar driver, Russell Ingall.
- DriveSafe practical driving course available at-cost to customers in South-East Queensland (proposed for national roll-out in 2009). This is also made available free-of-charge to all Team Members with company vehicles.
- A comprehensive website explaining all of the driving tips and technique information taught in the DriveSafe course.
By delivering a consistent, unified message to all Australian motorists, Supercheap Auto is raising the bar for road safety and giving back to the community to help make our roads safer for all motorists.
BCF, official community partner of the Queensland
SES
In March 2009, BCF entered into a three year community sponsorship
agreement with Volunteer State Emergency Services (SES)
Queensland.
The three-year agreement will play an important role in raising
awareness of the Service through actively encouraging volunteering
and donations through BCF's extensive customer network of 22 retail
outlets and playing host to local SES fundraising, demonstrations
and recruitment events.
Goldcross Cycles - Supporting responsible
cycling
Recognising increasing community concern about the safety of cycling, Goldcross Cycles is creating a multi faceted campaign to encourage both cyclists and motorists to co-exist in better harmony.
Goldcross is working with the national Cycling Promotion Fund and State Cycling bodies to build a "Cycling Safety" message on its website, e newsletters, catalogues and instore. This will include where and how to ride safely.
Goldcross Cycles is also actively sponsoring community cycling events including Bike Week, Ride to Work Day and Ride to School day which will help build community recognition of the popularity and benefits of cycling.
A series of in free in store clinics called "Smartrider" will also be offered to the community on responsible cycle ownership - maintenance, riding, road rules etc.
